We live in a complex world, with many people, ideas, alternatives, and information. On a personal level, we grapple with a wealth of impulses, feelings, and possibilities, all leading to multiple decisions that we face every day. Each day allows us to forge a new path, continue on the familiar one, or explore a nearby alternative. This reality can be daunting, but we can regain control and empowerment by learning to simplify.
Simplifying is returning to the essence of who we are and discarding everything else. The rest distance us and give us many life lessons, only to later return to the right path with greater humility, wisdom, and determination. I have been in that situation on more than one occasion, so today I fight to stay on the same path, which is part of my essence of being, to which I am making slight adjustments. I may long for dramatic changes in difficult times, but they are a vague idea without much foundation.
Difficult situations are when all your options have a possible negative outcome, or all of them have a positive outcome. Differentiating between them can be a challenge. Being able to measure only makes sense if you can identify how each alternative brings you closer to or further away from your own being, your essence, your consciousness, the source of life. This 'source of life' is the core of your existence, the values and beliefs that guide you, and understanding its role in decision-making can help you align your choices with your true self.
Whether successful or not, every project in life can bring us closer to or further from ourselves. Therefore, being aware of who we are, what we want, and our life's purpose and meaning makes it easier to simplify decision-making. This self-awareness allows us to accept or reject new challenges or projects, bringing us one step closer to our definition of success.
If you are stuck amid complexity, I recommend engaging in a self-awareness exercise. This exercise will help you define your life's purpose, giving you a clearer idea. With this clarity, you can simplify your decision-making process and navigate life more confidently and effectively.
